The Opportunity:

The HR Manager is hands-on role that provides full cycle Human Resources support to Petra Hygienics’s people initiatives. This person will play a vital role in the development and implementation of HR programs, processes and policies. They will manage day-to-day HR activities by supporting employee relations, leading recruitment initiatives, managing and maintaining employee data, supporting the administration of payroll and compensation, creating HR communications, and acting as a support and advisor to management.

About you:

This exciting role will require you to be a natural trust-builder – helping to establish and maintain the organization’s human resources function by planning, implementing, and evaluating policies, programs, and practices. The ideal candidate will be creative, knowledgeable, and possess strong coaching and development skills with a focus on continuous improvement. The Human Resources Manager will have the ability to manage time, work independently, take initiative and champion projects from ideation to completion.

A day in the life of the Human Resources Manager – role and responsibilities:

  • Provide effective and timely first line HR support and counsel to internal departments on various HR related topics, including implementation and interpretation of HR policies and procedures
  • Support the administration of various processes to ensure timely and accurate record keeping
  • Provide reports and recommendations to upper management on people plans that contribute to the leadership team’s strategic decision-making
  • Process documentation and prepare reports relating to personnel activities including, but not limited to, staffing, recruitment, employee training, grievances, performance evaluations.
  • Lead HR programs: employee engagement, employee training, performance review process, internal surveys, and benefits administration
  • Develop an operations model and a total quality model
  • Assist in payroll preparation by providing relevant data including, but not limited to, absences, compensation, and promotions
  • As required in partnership with people practices, lead and/or conduct investigations regarding violations of the company’s standards of conduct
  • Lead monthly HR meetings with management and their respective teams
  • Lead the internal and external recruitment processes, including screening, interviewing, and coaching managers on candidate selection based on defined criteria
  • Develop and maintain an employee records database for both full-time permanent and flex staff
  • Lead onboarding process and initial orientation with newly hired employees
  • Spearhead the planning of team offsites and company town halls

Requirements – what you bring to the company:

  • Minimum 5+ years of progressive Human Resources generalist experience, with at least 2 years of HR leadership experience
  • Certificate, diploma or degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or related field
  • Hands-on experience working with Bamboo HR
  • CPHR designation an asset
  • In-depth experience with Ontario employment legislation
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of business goals in order to assist leaders in solving organizational, people and change priorities
  • Decision-making and problem-solving skills with a deep understanding of employee relations, people management and training programs
  • In depth experience with ATS software and job posting channels
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive information in a professional manner
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences
  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail and focus on accuracy
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
