The Organization:

Highbridge Human Capital is delighted to be working with the Adams Lake Band in the search for an Community Facilities Manager. The Adams Lake Indian Band (ALIB) belongs to the Secwepemc Nation. ALIB is a member of the Shuswap Nation Tribal Council (SNTC); which consists of nine Secwepemc Bands.

The Adams Lake Indian Band Office strives to provide services for band members, consistent with the band’s vision and mission. The Chief and Council provide the political leadership and guidance to the Executive Director and managers, regarding programs and services for the benefit of community members.

Over the past decades, ALIB has grown tremendously, which has driven the charge for significant changes within the community. The band has developed new tools to deliver services in a changing world, which has resulted in greater and more varied opportunities to create and advance band programs, develop economic initiatives, and to provide meaningful employment to more individuals and families.

The Opportunity:

The Adams Lake Indian Band is currently seeking an experienced and knowledgeable professional to join their team as the Community Facilities Manager. Reporting to and under the general direction of the Executive Director, the Community Facilities Manager is responsible for managing the operations, coordinating and soliciting events and fitness activities of the Adams Lake Indian Band, including the Community Recreation Centre (Gym, fitness Centre, meeting rooms and full sized kitchen) and events booking for all Band facilities including the Hall, Spiritual Centre, and the Pierre’s Point Log Building.

You possess strong communication skills, and are able to build relationships, carrying yourself in a professional and supportive manner as you work with renters, event planners and vendors.

A day in the life of the Community Facilities Manager

Role and Responsibilities:

As the Community Facilities Manager, you will:

  • Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with Adams Lake Indian Band policies and procedures
  • Plans, organizes/schedules, directs, and evaluates the leasing/rental operations of assigned Band facilities, including Band programs (including recreational and fitness programs) and events
  • Develops and implements promotion and marketing strategies to enhance rental opportunities
  • Ensures market advertising for scheduled events with external renters
  • First point of contact for inquiries, complaints and concerns and providing incident reports, as required
  • Plans, develops, and administers the Centre’s operational and maintenance budget (rental billing/contracts, liability insurance requirements, etc.)
  • Develops and administers rental policies and procedures for users
  • Researches and develops proposals for grant and funding opportunities
  • Maintains the office work area in a clean and professional manner
  • Ensures proper maintenance/repair and cleaning of the assigned Band facilities including supply and equipment requirements
  • Coordinates and manages all janitorial services for all Band facilities
  • Performs other related duties as required
  • Supervises personnel as required to assist in the management of Band facilities
  • Supervises all staff that assist in events and janitorial services for facilities


  • Experience in a First Nations environment and knowledge of the Secwepemc culture and language, an asset
  • Possesses computer skills using MS Office, Word, and Excel
  • Strong planning & organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Diplomacy, tact, and confidentiality in dealing with a variety of people and information
  • Reliability and dependability
  • Must be available to work on weekends and evenings
  • Self-motivated and an ability to work independently
  • Flexibility is a must to adapt to changing work times and priorities
  • Good judgement and problem-solving skills
  • Basic accounting and administrative skills
  • Continuous learning
  • Current clean criminal record check
  • Valid B.C. Class 5 Driver’s License (copy required)
  • Reliable transportation with valid insurance
