THE OPPORTUNITY
Castle Rock Farms (CRF) is currently seeking a driven and dynamic Director, Human Resources to join their growing team in Princeton BC. The Director, HR will partner with the Senior Leadership Team to translate business strategy into progressive HR practices, building an engaged, collaborative and best-in-class culture. From employee engagement to HR compliance to workforce planning, you will facilitate all aspects of the employee life cycle and assist leaders across the organization with creating, managing, and maintaining the best employee experience possible.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the CFO, the Director, HR is a valued member of the leadership team and is responsible for shaping and executing HR strategies that align with business goals and values. Your strategic thinking, leadership skills, strong knowledge of employment standards, and in-depth HR expertise will be instrumental in driving CRF’s success.
A Day in the Life of the Director, Human Resources:
Strategic Leadership:
- Collaborate with executive leadership to align HR strategies with overall business goals and objectives.
- Develop and execute HR strategies that support the company’s growth, expansion, and long-term success.
- Provide insights and recommendations on workforce planning, organizational design, and talent management.
Talent Acquisition and Recruitment:
- Oversee full-cycle recruitment efforts to attract and hire top-tier talent across various roles and levels.
- Develop creative sourcing strategies to ensure a diverse and qualified candidate pool.
- Drive employer branding initiatives to position CRF as an employer of choice.
Employee Development and Training:
- Create and implement training programs that enhance employee skills, job satisfaction, and performance.
- Collaborate with department leaders to identify skill gaps and design targeted development plans.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
Performance Management:
- Establish performance management processes, including goal setting, performance evaluations, and career development discussions.
- Provide coaching and guidance to managers on effective performance management techniques.
- Address employee performance and conduct issues, ensuring fair and consistent enforcement of policies.
Employee Engagement and Culture:
- Develop and promote initiatives that foster a positive and inclusive work environment.
- Lead employee engagement surveys, analyze results, and implement action plans to enhance workplace satisfaction.
- Drive culture-building activities, events, and programs that align with the values and mission of CRF.
Record Management and Analytics:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, including personnel files, HRIS data, and attendance records.
- Generate regular reports and presentations on HR key performance indicators (KPIs) to the executive team and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Monitor and analyze HR metrics to identify trends and implement data-driven strategies to improve employee retention, productivity, and overall organizational performance.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Oversee the design, implementation, and management of competitive compensation and benefits programs.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to ensure CRF remains competitive in attracting and retaining talent.
Compliance and Employee Relations:
- Ensure compliance with all corporate guidelines, provincial employment laws and regulations, and safety regulations specific to manufacturing facilities in the cannabis sector.
- Provide guidance and support on legal and regulatory issues, including employee contracts, terminations, and workplace investigations.
- Handle employee relations matters, investigations, and conflict resolution with professionalism and fairness.
Qualifications – What you bring to the Company:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 7+ years of progressive Human Resources generalist experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
- CPHR designation an asset.
- In-depth knowledge of labor laws, regulations, and HR best practices.
- Prior work experience leading and managing change initiatives, influencing stakeholders, and driving HR strategies.
- Diverse experience in talent acquisition, performance management, employee engagement, and training and development programs.
- Strong understanding of HRIS systems and proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- You anticipate and plan for changes to current organizational policies, practices, systems, etc. needed to move in new strategic directions and to ensure long-term success.
- Excellent organization skills and time management capabilities. Strategic thinker with the ability to align HR initiatives with broader business objectives.
- You demonstrate a high level of integrity, strong interpersonal skills, the ability to build consensus, and put a strong emphasis on responsibility and accountability.
- You have strong decision-making skills and the determination to see projects through to the end. Able to deliver near-term wins while building towards a larger strategic vision.
- Strong communication skills with ability to collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders.
